Indoor Board at Morning Star Includes:
Access to all facilities! (Indoor arena, outdoor sand-ring, cross-country course, heated viewing room, tack room and personal lockers, cross-ties in tack-up area, wash stall, etc.
Access to water at all times! This is a necessity! Each paddock has a water trough for the horses to drink from during the day. We also provide two buckets full of water in every stall, and fill them three times a day to ensure they are never empty.
Routine night check! At the end of every night when barn hours are over, there is a routine check of the barn. This includes topping up water buckets, throwing extra hay if required, and making sure no horse is showing signs of colic or distress.
Blanketing! From October 1st to May 1st we offer blanketing to all horses based on the client’s requests. Generally this includes a rain-sheet, an indoor winter blanket, and an outdoor winter blanket. We do not offer this service during the other months, but we will make exceptions if the weather drops suddenly in temperature.
Daily stall cleaning! Your horse will have his / her stall cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis. Shavings are used as bedding.
Daily turnout! Every horse will get the opportunity of turnout in paddocks for approximately 6-8 hours per day. Large grass fields are also offered as part of turnout during summer and fall months. All our paddocks are made of solid wood fencing set at the required height. If the weather conditions are poor, horses are rotated on arena turnout to ensure they still get exercise for the day.
Twice-daily feeding of grain and hay! All horses are fed grain before turnout in the morning and after turnout when they come in for the night. We offer a variety of different options for your horse including: High Fat High Fibre Pellets, Beet Pulp (always soaked), Equalizer, Phase One, and Sweet Feed. If you have a particular feed for your horse that is not mentioned in our list, we would be happy to accommodate. We also give any supplements to the horses if provided by the owner. Horses also get hay fed to them both in the morning during turnout and at night when they come into their stalls.
Outdoor Board at Morning Star Includes:
Large grass field! Our out-door boarder field is exceptionally big, allowing for a great amount of running space. It also offers a unique tile-draining system to prevent the area from becoming too wet.
Access to water at all times! In the field we have two large water troughs set up, with a water heater provided in the winter to prevent the water from freezing.
Twice-daily hay! We provide a large feeding of hay for all the out-door boarder horses both in the early morning and evening. We also rotate round-bales of hay, and due to the size of the field, generally provide grass grazing during the warmer months.
Access to shelter! We have two types of shelter areas in the field. One is a large over-hang extending off the barn that provides wind and rain shelter. The other is a large run-in area, protected on three sides from the wind and roofing from the rain and snow.
Safe fencing! Due to the fact that out-door horses stay out-side 24/7, we have provided the best possible fencing of solid wood measured at 5 ft, with electric braiding in addition for the extra security.
